L.A. Saints Gather in Santa Clarita

Start Here!  Why Santa Clarita? Just north of the San Fernando Valley sits Santa Clarita, comfortably distinct from the rest of Los Angeles county thanks to the Santa Susana mountain range. Sometimes called SCV, it is an affluent, busy city with a small town feel but close to world-class amenities in LA.

The area enjoys very mild, relatively rainy winters and hot, sunny summers. Although temperatures can spike, average temps in August are 90°F and in January they hit 59°F. The clear skies and clean air are perfect to enjoy the over 60 miles of trails for biking and hiking. The city enjoys mountains as its backdrop and a strong city sports program for families and adults alike. Also known as the home of Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park with roller coasters rides and Hurricane Harbor water park for summer fun.

Santa Clarita broke the top 10 happiest cities in America based on a survey of 200 of the nation's largest cities, analyzing factors of finance, well-being and quality of life. But that comes as no surprise: SCV is regularly recognized for being a great place to live.

With its close proximity to LA, Santa Clarita is often used as a suburban backdrop for TV shows and films. Perhaps easily recognized as the location of the show Santa Clarita Diet, the reality is that a dozen or more shoots are taking place in our valley at any given time. It's not unusual for a neighborhood to be shut down for a day shoot for a film or TV show. Most recently, the films Oppenheimer, The Fabelmans, Babylon, Nope, Ford vs. Ferrari were filmed in Santa Clarita.

Santa Clarita CA has also been named the “Most Business Friendly City in Los Angeles County” by the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation.  It is the largest master-planned industrial park in LA County and Santa Clarita real estate developers have hosted a diverse selection of business and industry.

These are great accolades for the community but we all know that members of the church are often looking for more! Rest assured that the family-friendly neighborhoods, strong schools, and reasonable real estate value have provided a bedrock for growth for wards for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A blend of long time families balanced with plenty of newcomers makes it possible to find a ward where you'll feel at home.

The Valencia California Stake covers Newhall, Stevenson Ranch, Castaic and Valencia with five healthy wards and a Spanish branch. The Santa Clarita Stake covers Saugus, Canyon Country, and Agua Dulce with five wards including a YSA ward.
